Doris Cheung, Counselor in Florida
Hi! I am Doris Cheung. As a counselor, I am honored to support individuals experiencing difficulties and/or pursuing personal growth. Are you depressed? Anxious? Stressed out? I understand and want to help you learn mental health tools to support you in finding the joy and peace you desire. Have you lived through trauma and fear you’ll never be the person you were before the tragedy you suffered? Do you wonder if you’ve developed PTSD? I am here to walk with you on the path of recovery and am equipped with specialized training, such as EMDR, that can accelerate your healing.
If you work with me, you will find that I am rooted in both science and art. I earned a doctoral degree in developmental psychology, a field focused on studying the ways we grow and change in our lifetimes. I am also an imaginative artist; I love to create and find art to be a powerful self-care tool. Having devoted myself to victim advocacy, I am compassionate and understand that there are no textbook, easy answers to many of life's challenges. I also have extensive experience working with diverse populations and am fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Hakka.
I believe that a safe and non-judgmental environment is essential for learning, growing, and exploring our inner landscapes. Therefore, I make an unwavering commitment to each of my clients that I will ensure they feel secure and respected in our sessions. I believe that we learn from the hill and valley experience in our lives. Together, we can assess your strengths and build on them as you navigate the relationship dynamics of your friendships, marriage, or family.
I am open to incorporating faith and spirituality into your sessions, but only when requested. I strive to align our time together with your beliefs and needs. I respect the unique nature of your spiritual journey and will meet you where you are in your faith. I look forward to working with you and providing you with compassionate care!
