Leanne Vaughan, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida
Hello! My name is Leanne Vaughan. I commend you for considering therapy and want to provide you with a quiet, safe place to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. We all have origin stories, old wounds that continue to hurt, and gaps between the way life is and the way we thought it would be. I won’t tell you to “just move on” or “get over it” when your past impedes on your present. Instead, you can expect me to walk alongside you on your journey to discovering who you are most meant to be, learning gentle self–care for your wounds, and living in the intersection of grace and truth.
Have you lost a parent, experienced divorce, or been in an abusive relationship? Are you healing from spiritual abuse, manipulation, or the results of having been raised by a parent with unmanaged mental illness? We are not born with the inherent skills and wisdom needed to heal these wounds. Sometimes our mental injuries require compassionate support, specialized knowledge, and specific mental/emotional exercises. I would be honored to guide you in taking an honest, healing look back and moving forward to a future of freedom, peace, and joy.
As an Enneagram 4, I am drawn to the deep places in people’s hearts and lives; I seek places of creativity and beauty in people and the world. I enjoy the quiet of a river in my kayak or spending hours in geeky discussions about the books and movies I love. My heart soars when I can celebrate with a long-term client as we reflect on hard work together that has yielded the fruits of healing, restoration, and hope.
For clients of Christian faith, I am eager to witness the joy and delight you can experience when you begin to integrate spiritual and emotional health. Many clients over the years have described an exciting beginning of their faith, followed by a confusing “wall” that seemed to get in the way of the peace and hope they thought they were “supposed” to experience in Christ. For many, gently paying attention to the whole story of their lives has made all the difference in knowing Jesus and being known by Him.
In addition to counseling individuals, I also see families. I am particularly passionate about serving families impacted by cancer. I have learned much from over a decade of therapeutic and personal relationships with caregivers and people living with life-altering illnesses. Pediatric cancer patients and their families are dear to my heart. I have found that the grief, challenges, and fear that accompany one's physical illness, or that of a loved one, are often compounded by the resurfacing of thoughts and emotions connected to previous life wounds. I want to help families cope with the present, while healing from the past.
Regardless of what has brought you to this point of exploring professional counseling, know that you are welcome and that I am ready to walk alongside you. Grace, truth, healing and peace are ahead of us!
